Paranor BBS is still up, via web, but i don't think i'm going to implement the dialup and the telnet access that i was planning on. Web is much prettier, easier to use, easier to code, and most everything is going web anyway, and i can't afford the extra line! So the Paranor BBS Software will become Web ONLY until i win the lottery or design some sort of dialup web browser that is actually halfway secure. Because this does not help the other half of the people that read our zine, unless they want to dialup long distance (not that hard), we need to include prefix scans for other area codes as well... I)ruid %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Fizban's Newbie Corner ------------- Beige Boxing Fer Beginners Ok, a beige box is a very simple device. It's purpose is even simpler. First off, make another visit to your local Radio Shack... When you get there, you need to purchase a wall mount telephone jack, and a bag of aligator clips that have about 4 inches of wire attached to them. When you get back to yer room you open the wall jack, and running the wires for the aligator clip, it would be best if you had a red and green colored clips, but any color will do, as long as you remember which is attached to which. You need to attache one wire to the green post, and the other to the red. Tighten the screws back down over the wires and put the cover back on the box. If you did this correctly, the box should be closed, and coming out of the bottom would be the two aligator clips. Now you have a simple Beige Box, all you are missing is a phone to plug into the wall jack. After adding the phone you have a complete box. Now, run out to your nearest Bell Box... be it on the side of your house or wherever else you feel safe enough not to get caught. After opening the box, if you are atempting to use a bell can, you will need a 7/16 socket to loosen the bolt. Now, if you remember which is supposed to be the green wire, attach it to where you see a green wire attached. Now, attach the red wire to the red wire directly across from the green one. If you did this correctly when you pick up your phone you will have a dial tone. Way to go...
